Things
to do in Portsmouth

The Albacore Museum
The
Albacore Museum is located right in
Portsmouth NH. Visit the USS Albacore which is a one-of-a-kind

The Children’s Museum of NH
The Children’s Museum of NH is located in nearby Dover NH. The
Children's Museum is a lot of fun, even for adults. They have a lot
of great hands-on exhibits. Some of my favorite exhibits include
Dino Detective which is where you get to play the role of
Paleontologist for a while. First you get to dig for fossils in the
sand and then you can examine them. First Impressions is another fun
exhibit. You can make impressions of your face and hands on the five
foot pin screen.
Summer
hours run until Labor Day. Hours in the summer are Monday
through Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from noon-5pm. Winter
hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday from
noon-5pm. They are closed on Monday during the winter.
Water Country
Water Country is located in Portsmouth NH as well. This is one
of my favorite places to go on a hot summer day. Water Country has
14 rides and slides. My two favorites are Dragon’s Den and
Tahiti Tree House. Dragon’s Den takes you through darkness and then
you plunge into the abyss of the dragon this is misting with water.
Tahiti Tree House is a blast. There is a large bucket atop the tree
house. When the bucket drops, you get totally soaked with water.
Water
Country is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Right now
online you can buy a season pass for the 2010 season for only
$59.99.

Santa’s Village
Santa’s Village is a special place for me. I went there when I was a
kid with my parents, I took my kids there when they were younger and
now I am taking my grandkids to Santa's Village. The antique cars
were my kids’ favorite ride. The cars run on a track and you steer
the car and control the gas pedal. The Little Drummer Boy is a drum
version of the Tea Cup ride. You control the steering with a whole
in the middle and this makes the drum you are riding on go around.
The Skyway Sleigh is my favorite ride. You ride on a sleigh
monorail around the park.
Santa’s
Village is open July and August and select days on the other months.
Tickets are $24 for ages 4 and up, $22 for seniors and children
under three are free.
