Cabot Creamery Cabot Vermont

Cabot Creamery in Cabot Vermont

The Cabot Creamery in Cabot Vermont is a small operation nestled in the woods and farmlands of Cabot Vermont. Cabot Creamery gets it's milk from New England dairy farmers that are part of their co-op which actually own Cabot. Dairy farmers that are part of the Cabot co-op provide the milk that's required for making Cabot cheese. Cabot has been owned by dairy farmers since 1919.

Cabot Factory Tours

Cabot offers guided factory tours in it's Cabot, Vermont location (where it all began in 1919). These tours are very informative and leaves you with a whole new appreciation for not only cheese, but our local farmers who work so hard to offer the best milk.

The tour begins with a short movie about Cabot and the farmers that are part of the Cabot co-op. After the film, you are walked down a hallway with windows so you can see the employees making the cheese. (Tip: Cabot factory tours are best on weekdays during normal hours. If you go on a Saturday or Sunday, there is no cheese being produced as the employees in the factory have the weekends off. To be sure you go on a day that they are making cheese, you can call them and ask - 1-800-837-4261). As you continue to walk down the hallway you will be shown the different phases of cheese production: The milk, mixing ingredients, separation of curd, testing, storage, and finally, the packaging of the cheese. The tour lasts about 45 minutes

At the end of the tour look for Cabot's free contest on the counter near the room where they show the movie. Cabot usually has a contest going all year, drawings are done monthly. Also, don't forget to check out the Cabot store for free cheese samples! Once you get yourself away from the free samples you might even notice that Cabot offers their cheese for sale as well as other items such as maple syrup, , cheese slicers, coffee mugs, cups, and other items.
