Motorcycle week (aka "Bike Week") in Laconia NH is a large event that occurs annually here in New Hampshire. Motorcycle week draws hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts and vendors from all over the country and Canada to New Hampshire. Many of these guests trailer their motorcycles and keep their vehicles are trailers at the hotel, or campground where they stay, but many of the local New England residents drive their bikes to the event. The day before Motorcycle Week actually begins, the highways are busy with motorcycles and vehicles trailering their bikes heading to Weirs Beach. People of all ages, driving all kinds of motorcycles from Harleys to Hondas

Motorcycle Week shuts down Weirs Beach at Lake Winnipesaukee to all traffic except motorcycles for the entire week. Vendors line the road at Weirs Beach and the surrounding areas that sell everything from bike parts and accessories to leather gear.

Motorcycle week dates back to 1916 when a few hundred motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at Weirs Beach and it became an annual event. At the time, it was a weekend of racing and hill climbs, Today, Motorcycle Weekend has been turned into a 9 day event called "Motorcycle Week" which occurs ever June and officially ends on Father's day.
