My how times have changed...
In the early 1970's school children
had to get off the bus when the bus
approached the Thompson Covered
bridge because of it's load limit.
After the bus crosses, the children
walked over the bridge and got back
on the bus.
In 1990 the State of new Hampshire
closed the Thompson Covered Bridge, claiming it was
unsafe for vehicles to cross the
bridge. The bridge has since been
restored and is now safe for
vehicles to use Thompson Covered Bridge up to 3
tons.
