Cornish-Windsor covered bridge is located on Bridge St on the
Vermont NH border, near NH Rt. 12A. The bridge crosses the
Connecticut River, which separates New Hampshire from Vermont.
The current Cornish-Windsor bridge was built in 1866 and is listed
in the World Guide to Covered Bridges (WGCB), number 29-10-09 and is
New Hampshire covered bridge #20
There were previous bridges built here, all of which were destroyed
by floods. The first bridge at this site was built in 1796.
The Cornish-Windsor bridge was a toll bridge until the early 1940's
and is now claimed to be the longest wooden covered bridge in the
USA and the longest 2-span covered bridge in the world.
