Under the Elm Bed and
Breakfast is an historic landmark described in the book, "A Guide to
the History
and Old Dwelling Places of Northwood, New Hampshire."
Under the Elm Bed & Breakfast offers four unique and tastefully decorated rooms, one
with a whirlpool hot tub. Guests enjoy the Social Room, Reading
Alcove, Three Season Porch, Dining Room and Deck. Wireless Internet
service is provided as a convenience for our guests.
The property was once the
largest Peach Orchard in NH but a frost ended the business. Today
many explore the the 40 private acres with a Beaver Pond. Others
just sit, visit or read under the large elm tree (one of the few
remaining following the elm tree epidemic) that has provided shade
for over 100 years. Of course, all enjoy one of the Under the Elm
signature breakfasts with in-season fruit and fresh baked goods.
Under the Elm Bed &
Breakfast is central to
all NH has to offer being located conveniently between Concord,
Portsmouth, Manchester, Weirs Beach and the NH Motor
Speedway, with lakes, mountains and Northwood Meadows State Park
just minutes away, hikers and water lovers find Under the Elm Bed
and Breakfast in Northwood, NH the
perfect place to stay.
In a nineteenth century
writing on this property there is a quaint phrasing that runs in
part "This eminence lies between the turnpike and Bow Lake. The view
from it in several directions is extended and rich and full of
interest to a stranger. A suitable establishment here for summer
residents would receive liberal patronage."
We are pleased to bring
this nineteen century observation to reality.
